The Aqua-Rex WK1 is ideal for most residential applications with city water supply and gas water heaters, tank and or tankless water heaters, with pipes up to 1 1/4” in. diameter and any pipe material, Copper, Steel, Plex, PVC, Flex Pipes etc.

Where do I install my Water Softener?
Aqua-Rex is simple to install. Just wrap the wires around the inlet pipe to the water heater. Second choice would be on the softener loop or third choice anywhere else on the cold-water supply. Remember the signal goes in both directions, upstream and downstream so you don’t need to pass the water through the wires to have it treated.
Just plug the transformer into an outlet – that is all you have to do. No set up or calibrating and it needs no servicing, supplies or maintenance, it is Plug and Play. It cost around $20 a year in electricity. There are no pipes to cut or plumbing to play with so it’s perfect if you are a renter. Just remember to take it with you when you move homes.

What kinds of pipes will Aqua-Rex work on?
Aqua-Rex works on Plastic Pipes, all types of metal pipes and Corrugated Flex Pipes.
Does Aqua-Rex work on any sized pipe?
The WK1 unit is for pipes in diameter of up to 1 1/4” In. For larger pipes, please contact us.
What type of outlet will my Aqua-Rex need to be plugged into?
Aqua Rex Water Softener Systems plug into a standard 110 Volt electrical outlet.
Should I hire a plumber to install my Home Water Softener?
No need to hire a plumber for installation. It’s a simple 20-minute DIY installation.

Do I have to cut pipes to install Aqua-Rex?
No Cutting of pipes and you don’t need any tools to install your Home Water Softener System by Aqua Rex.
The Aqua-Rex cord is not long enough, what should I do?
Our cords are usually long enough to reach your electrical outlet. If the electrical cord isn’t long enough you can use an extension cord.
What if I already have a water softener installed on my home?
You can use Aqua-Rex if you currently have a water softener. Just Bypass your current water softener unit or unistall it.
Do I need any tools to install Aqua-Rex Water Softeners?
None whatsoevery. So easy to install yourself.
Where do I put the salt for Aqua-Rex?
Aqua Rex Water Softeners Does NOT use Salt or any other additives. Just Install It & Forget It!
Can Aqua-Rex be installed outside?
The WK1P for Swimming Pools & Spas is fully waterproof, but the transformer is not, so that outlet will need to be protected
Can Aqua-Rex withstand high temperatures?
I’m moving – can I remove Aqua-Rex and install somewhere else?
Yes! This is one of the best features of Aqua-Rex Water Softeners. Simply unwind the wires & take it with you when you move to your new home!
Why is Aqua-Rex so inexpensive?
Water Softeners by Aqua-Rex are less expensive than traditional water softeners because there is a lot less bulk.

Do I need a GFCI?
No, you do not need a GFCI outlet with Aqua-Rex. Just use a standard 110v Outlet in your home.
How will I know if Aqua-Rex is working?
You should immediately notice a difference in your hair, skin and how well cleansers and soaps lather. Soon you will notice a difference in water scaling build up.
Do I need to turn Aqua-Rex on?
No. It will starts working the moment you install it and plug it in.
Does Aqua-Rex require calibration?
Aqua-Rex Water Softeners DOES NOT require any Calibration set up or any maintenance whatsoever. Easy Simple one-time installation and done!
Has Aqua-Rex Water Softeners been third-party tested?
Aqua-Rex is the Water Softener System for your home with the First US independent 3Rd Party performance verification. When tested by IAPMO R&T Labs it showed it could reduce hard water scaling by 83% in water heated to 180°F for 23 hours.

Does it treat all the water in the home?
Aqua-Rex treats all the water in the home, all the time. It sends a signal into the water heater even when no water is flowing, and it also sends a signal back into the cold supply in the rest of the home so mixing valves, showerheads and kitchen faucets won’t get scaled up either.
It is OK to treat the water to the kitchen faucet because it doesn’t add unhealthy sodium to the water, instead it retains the healthy calcium.
How does it compare with a water softener?
Aqua-Rex doesn’t use any salt or chemicals, and it doesn’t produce any environmentally unfriendly discharges. It needs no maintenance or servicing, and it costs hardly anything to run.

Is it as good as a water softener?
Aqua-Rex reduces scaling like a softener, but it also gets rid of the old scale in the home which a softener won’t do.
It softens hot water, so you use less soap and detergents, but you don’t get that slippery feel to the water from the sodium dumped in by a softener. It can deliver about the same benefits as a conventional water softener, and there’s no salt to haul!
Will it work on any pipe material?
You can wrap the Aqua-Rex wires on any type of pipe material: plastic or metal, even the flexible copper inlet pipe to the water heater.
What does Aqua-Rex do for my Swimming Pool & Spa?
Aqua-Rex is great for clearing the calcium scale from tiles and water features. It reduces scaling in the saltwater chlorine generator and makes the biocide work more efficiently. It reduces phosphates thus making the pool clearer.
The WK1P Pool Conditioner is fully waterproof and should be installed on the circulating line after the pump
Does Aqua-Rex work in the Dishwasher?
Sorry the answer is No. The pump in the dishwasher reduces the effectiveness of Aqua-Rex so you need to use a good hard water detergent and most importantly a hard water rinse aid, which is available from most grocery stores. If you follow these instructions, you should be happy with the results from your Dishwasher.

Can Aqua-Rex treat anything bigger than a home?

How do I know if I have Hard Water?
You most likely have hard water if: You have a White Crust that’s in your bathroom, kitchen, pool and it’s hard to remove.

Does it need any Maintenance or Servicing?
Absolutely none at all. You set it and forget it – its plug and play. Just make sure it is getting power and the LED is flashing. It has a design life in excess of 25 years. Just remember to take it with you when you move homes.
Does Aqua-Rex Affect Biocide?
Yes, it makes them work better, so you can use less chemicals. Helps kill bacteria so you have less need to “shock” treat a pool, reducing chemical usage.
Will Aqua-Rex Cause Algae?
No not at all.

It won’t kill algae directly, but it Reduces phosphates in the water and makes it much clearer, which saves on costly chemicals.
Is Aqua-Rex Better for Filters?

Is Aqua-Rex safe to use on my salt cell?
Absolutely Yes!
On Salt Water systems it keeps the generator cleaner and saves de-scaling.
Are there any harmful side effects?

What's the difference between Calcium Scale & Silica Scale?
Calcium scale and Silica scale look very similar and are often confused with each other. The easiest way to tell them apart is to test them with an acid such as vinegar or muriatic.
Calcium scale will bubble and will disappear. Silica won’t react at all.
Aqua-Rex will NOT remove Silica scale. The scale around the grout lines of tiles generally comes from behind the tile and is mostly Silica. Aqua-Rex will not be effective on this kind of scale either. High levels of Silica are found in a few ground water supplies.
Aqua-Rex will reduce scale in a filter so the sand is free to act more effectively and may require less backwashing. It will help chlorine or other biocides to be more effective so that the amount used can be reduced for the same effect.
Aqua Rex & Phosphates?
Aqua-Rex has shown to be effective at causing phosphates to flocculate and fall out of solution into the bottom of the pool. The water will be clearer and any algae will have less food so is less likely to cause a problem.
It may also help reduce dissolved solids by encouraging them to precipitate into suspended solids which can then be removed by the filter.
Is Aqua-Rex Waterproof?
Pool Unit is fully waterproof so it can be installed outside.
Aqua Rex WK1P Pool unit is IP66 rated, but the Electrical transformer that plugs into the socket is not.
What electrical outlet does it need?
Aqua Rex is completely waterproof. The power cable is 7′ feet long. Comes with a USB plug so you can plug it into any USB outlet or use the transformer supplied to plug into a 120v outlet.
How has Aqua Rex been in Business?
While Aqua-Rex is a new product in the US for the pool market, it is a tried and tested product in the UK and Europe.
Aqua Rex has been in use for over twenty years in its role as a water softener alternative and as a treatment for Long String Algae on Koi Carp ponds.
Over the last four years we have evaluated its performance on swimming pools in the USA and since April 2013 it has been a listed vendor product with Poolcorp. In every field where it has been evaluated it has performed as well, and in most cases, better than expected.
Does Aqua Rex get rid of all scale?
Aqua-Rex will get rid of Calcium scale but will have little or no effect on Silica scale.
Silica scale is only an issue in a few areas of the country where Silica rich water is drawn from wells. Silica scale won’t react to acids such as vinegar or Muriatic and can only be removed by using abrasives.
Sometimes you will find all the scale disappears and then a thin layer recurs, especially around the grout line. This is most likely to be Silica, and Aqua-Rex nor any device on the market is able to remove it electronically.
Can Aqua Rex help with Bead Blasting my Pool?
YES! it does help.

Is Aqua-Rex Better on your eyes for swimming?
It has no difference for your eyes. The chlorine is what hurts your eyes.

How much does it Cost to Run a year?
- ENERGY AND WATER CONSERVATION: Aqua-Rex uses minimal amounts of energy to run – about $20 per year. It is eco-friendly – no chloride-filled wastewater, and no backwashing required.
Where do I Install Aqua-Rex?
The unit should be installed downstream of the circulation pump and a multi cyclone filter, if fitted, on a pipe that is always full of water. If there is more than one pump serving a separate pool or water feature, then each pumped line needs to be treated downstream of the pump. It will operate on any type of pipe material, including corrugated and plastic up to 2½” diameter.
Just wrap the two aerial wires around the pipe after the circulation pump and secure them with the zip ties (Included).

Does Aqua Rex on TDS?
Yes, works great! It Reduces the TDS so less need to dump your pool or spa water. Saves water, Saves Time & Saves Money!

Do I have to Reset my Aqua Rex
No. Aqua-Rex units are equipped with an additional Self-Diagnostic “Guard Chip” program which monitors the performance of the main program and resets the system automatically if it detects a variation or system failure. There is no need for manual resetting after power outage.
